WaaghPaca 2017 pt.2

Behold the stunning vistas of WaaghPaca. I failed to capture the 40k terrain as I was playing, and caught up in the action. All of a sudden it came to tear down for fantasy. But take my word for it they were stunning. Forgot to post last week with the busy schedule at school, and planning for the Renegade Open 2017, also there is this event coming up called Adepticon, you may have heard of it. 5 days to go, whole five days. But lets not delay, and head off into the wondrous wilds of WaaghPaca.

Now we get to some of the Infinity tables. These are some of the tables produced by Rodge form the Point Hammered podcast, and the Mean Wisco Boys, formerly the Handsome Point Boys. These tables are fantastic. They feel like a real place, some of them are made to represent a particular district such as laundry, or urban livestock. Forget the flashy clean worlds of modern sci-fi/anime, your stepping in Blade Runner, or Mega City One. The bright future we should have had.

I will be stealing some ideas here for Renegade this year from both events. Expect to start seeing those post some time in June. Not far enough away.

WaaaghPaca 2017 pt.1

The last weekend of January I was in Waupaca WI. for WaaaghPaca! Perhaps the most fanatically loved event I have ever heard about. It also may the greatest gathering of high level hobby output in the Midwest. I'm putting up just some of the models I was able to get photos of, I wanted to get more but you get swept up in the actions. I will post up photos of some of the terrains and tables next week.

Below we have some of the usual madness of Mike Butcher. I have recently seen he is working on machanicum models. Hopefully those will be making an appearance in the future.

This was the Friday friendly tournament. I did not get any good photos of the Warhammer 40,000 terrain even though I was around it for two days. The infinity terrain will make up for it though.

Beginning of the green guys

So what have I been doing the last couple months? I've been waiting for a package from a recent Kickstarter to arrive before I took any photos of my recent projects. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. That package would be a macro mat from TableWar! Below you can see an example of a packaged and shipped macro mat. I include this as its a funny comparison to another package I had been waiting a long time for.

That would be an order from Forgeworld. Some of which I needed for WaaaghPaca. You'll get to see the photo dump of WaaaghPaca next week. So this arrived a week after WaaaghPaca, hand delivered by a postal worker in a plastic bag which let me know they care. Because the bag said so. I had ordered this just a few weeks before Christmas so I assume it had an avalanche of Christmas packages crash down on it, and then was thrown in package refugee purgatory until they remembered that it was there, and finally delivered. All contents were in pristine condition a Heresy red book, and the rest blister packs. I think a larger, looser kit may have been broken, but these are tough little boxes so no damage.

One of my assistants inspecting the structural damage.

So I really now have to get a better lighting arrangement since I have a fancy back drop but we will proceed with what is at hand. This was the first five Salamanders I painted to test out how this army will proceed. Some sampling of backpack variations, and gold accents.

How's this for pro photography set?

Lastly a few legion tactical marines in process.

WaaaghPaca coverage next week, and some more green guys.

Renegade Open 2016

It has been over a month now since the fourth Renegade Open Grand Tournament. Amazing how time flies when your not being swamped by building terrain for 38 tables, and full time college. If I had full time job as well which I've had the last three, no way I could have finished as much as I did.

This year we had X-Wing, Armada, and Malifaux Friday night, Warmachine Saturday, and Infinity Sunday. All along side Warhammer 40,000 Saturday & Sunday. All totaled 222 people came to the Fantasy Flight Game Center over three days. We are currently planning on expansion of events, both in new games, and number days for other games. With our first meeting for next year, just next week I'll leave Renegade Open 2017 for the future, and we can get to the photo dump for 2016.

Below you have day one of the grand tournament as round was getting under way.

And this was Friday night.

Now for some of the tables.

Day two, calm before the storm.

Now we have some of the infinity tables. Most of these are personally owned by individuals who brought them for the event. The advantage of only having to worry about building and painting one table.

The table below was one of many brought by Sean Poschel, the man running the infinity event. This was one of many he supplied. This is some of his fathers personnel collection.

Lastly you see what it takes transport proper sized terrain for a grand tournament. Now this does not show all the Fantasy flight games terrain, and the little from other stores we used but that total was far lower then in years past. Now we just need around triple this for next year.

And for next year I picked up a few F.A.T. Mats.

Going into 2017 WaaaghPaca looms close, and Adepticon is less then three months out. I will also be participating in a Horus Heresy campaign starting the same weekend as Paca. So my first priority is to get my Salamanders going as they will be my army for the three previous mentioned events.

I also hope to start working on my fantasy army as they product has sat fallow for way to long.

Lastly I will return to the Executioners, for I must as it is my life's duty to complete Vanir Hex's 3rd company. As also some crazy times are coming for the imperium, and will need aid of the Emperors heads men.

Below is the first batch of the salamanders to test out how l'll go about them.
